UEP seeks 'constructive dialogue'

United Entertainment Partners (UEP) said this morning that all it is seeking from Fingal County Council today is a willingness to engage in talks to assess the issues posed by their proposals for the Vega City project.

Louis Maguire, Managing Director of UEP said: "We are not seeking planning permission or approval to submit an application from the County Council today. What we do hope for is a preparedness to sit down with us to assess all aspects of the project through constructive dialogue."

Fingal County Council has already branded the project as "questionable" and "unsustainable" and a representative speaking this morning on NewsTalk106 said that the Council will not be backing the project.

UEP says if that if they could enter talks with the council then it would be able to secure the public support of the entertainment companies for the project.

Mr Maguire pointed out that no corporation is prepared to commit to a project that is rejected at concept stage and that Fingal County Council knows who the backers are so they should enter talks before shunning the project.

"Why can't they engage directly with them before calling a halt to this opportunity?" he said.

The Vega City project would include theme parks, retail developments, hotels, a conference centre and 10,000 apartments, would employ up to 40,000 people and could attract up to 37 million tourists annually.
