London’s FTSE 100 Index continued its uncertain streak today as investors stayed on the sidelines ahead of firmer signals on the economy.

The Footsie closed 27.3 points lower at 4327.4 despite an attempt by the Dow Jones Industrial Index to end four successive sessions of losses.
