Average salary in Britain tops £24,000 - report

The average salary in Britain is now £24,740 (€39,757) a report showed today.

Research undertaken by Union GMB said that the top 23 pay areas are all in the capital and the

south-east.

The top ten areas are in London with average salaries ranging from £27,468 ( €39,366) in Richmond-upon-Thames to £50,905 (€72,957) in the City, the financial district.

The lowest paid areas are in Scotland, Wales and the north of England. Average pay in the Scottish

borders is £18,491 (€26,500).
