Clothing firm to shed more jobs

A leading clothing company is to end all manufacturing operations in Northern Ireland with the loss of nearly 300 jobs, it was announced today.

The closure of a jeans factory at Newbuildings, near Derry, will be the sixth plant Desmond & Co. has shut this year. A cutting room is also to go.
