AIB appoints new non-executive director

John McGuckian has been appointed Allied Irish Bank's senior independent non-executive director.

John McGuckian has been appointed Allied Irish Bank's senior independent non-executive director.

He replaces Dermot Gleeson who became Chairman of the Board of AIB on October 14, 2003.

The appointment is for a one-year term.

McGuckian is a member of the nomination and remuneration committee, and is Chairman of AIB Group (UK) plc.
