Manufacturers to halve weight of cement bags

Irish cement manufacturers have agreed to halve the weight of bags of cement in an effort to reduce workplace injuries.

The Health and Safety Authority said today that 50kg bags would be eliminated and that, in future, all cement bags produced in Ireland would weigh no more than 25kgs.
