Taoiseach links pay increases to performance

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has warned that payment of the remaining benchmarking pay increases are dependent upon 'real and verifiable outputs' by workers in the private sector.

Public sector workers will have to provide more responsive customer service in order to secure their long term future, he told delegates at the National Standard Authority of Ireland (NSAI) annual conference today.
