Germany's SPD and Green coalition have said today that the country's budget deficit for 2003 will be the highest on record at around €43.8bn.

Germany's SPD and Green coalition have said today that the country's budget deficit for 2003 will be the highest on record at around €43.8bn.

Finance Ministry sources have said Minister Hans Eichel is due to revise upward this year's federal government budget deficit to €43.8bn from the previous official forecast of €18.6bn.
