Hogan hits out at Hibernian points policy
Hibernian Insurance is being criticised for loading the cost of policy cover for motorists with five points or more.
The insurance company, which is one of Ireland’s largest motor insurers, has decided to impose a loading of 10% on existing policyholders with six or more points.
Fine Gael’s Phil Hogan is calling on the Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan to intervene in what he calls a despicable abuse of the penalty points system.
He says it once again highlights the absence of competition in the Irish insurance market.
