Aeroflot may join SkyTeam

According to reports in the French Lettre de l'Expansion newsletter, Russian air carrier Aeroflot is in advanced talks to join the SkyTeam airline alliance.

The alliance could be cemented as soon as this year.

The report said that Groupe Air France - a SkyTeam founder - is in favour of the project. SkyTeam remains weak in Eastern Europe.

Other members of SkyTeam are Aeromexico, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta and Korean Air.
