Nokia clinches mulit-million Thai deal

Nokia Corp announced it has won an order worth $23m (€19m) from Thailand's mobile operator AIS. The contract is to expand its GSM/GPRS service and roll out EDGE networks in northern, central and southern regions of Thailand.

The deal covers the immediate delivery of equipment and services required in non-voice strategic cities such as Chiangmai and Phuket, and also includes services such as project management, implementation and network maintenance services.

Nokia has worked with AIS since the early 1990s, providing turnkey services for the operator's GSM infrastructure, the company said.
