Scandinavian low-cost carrier seeks international alliance

Denmark's daily paper Berlingske Tidende has quoted Torben Anker Soerensen, MD of Scandinavian budget airline Sterling European, as saying that it is in talks with several rivals on creating an alliance of low-cost carriers.

The alliance would compete directly against existing groupings such as the British Airways-led OneWorld and Lufthansa AG's Star Alliance.

Soerensen said, "I would like to see Sterling as the Scandinavian part of the world's strongest network within low-price flying."

Sterling is owned by the two Fred Olsen Energy ASA controlled companies, Ganger Rolf ASA and Bonheur ASA.
