Iraq: US expert named economic director

A US Treasury Department legal expert has been named director of economic development for the coalition in Iraq.

George Wolfe will take over the position currently held by Peter McPherson, who leaves to return to his position as president of Michigan State University.

Mr Wolfe, deputy general counsel for the Treasury Department since July 2001, will fill the job until November 1, when he returns to Washington to become acting general council at Treasury.
