FTSE finishes on one-year high

The FTSE 100 Index has broken through the 4300 barrier following a late flourish at the end of an otherwise subdued session.

London's benchmark index closed at a new one-year high of 4314.7 after adding 21.7 points on the back of a strong start to trading in New York.
