FSAI targets farmers on procedures
An advice booklet specifically aimed at the farming community has been published by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI).
The leaflets aim to give practical advice to farmers on five key areas of concern.
These include traceability, safe farm practices, the prudent use of antibiotics and chemicals, pasteurisation and meat contamination.
Commenting on the publication, Alan Reilly, Deputy Chief Executive, FSAI said that a few simple precautions can reduce the incidence of food pathogens and enhance food safety standards.
"Farmers have requested this information which shows their commitment to food safety and best practices.
"We have provided this information in a clear and concise manner to ensure that safe practices become second nature to all involved in the farming industry," Mr Reilly said.
