Activists protest GM corn shipments

A cargo ship pulled away from the Mexican port of Veracruz after two Greenpeace activists locked themselves to an anchor chain to block the importation of genetically-modified corn from the United States.

Two men dressed in red jumpsuits and helmets dangled for much of the day from the cargo ship’s anchor chain, holding up bright yellow banners with black letters reading: “Stop Forced Trade” and preventing the ship from pulling up its anchor to enter the port.
