A second danger period for extending the damage caused by the virus which has wrought havoc with computers around the world passed off without incident, an anti-virus expert said.

The Sobig.f virus, which has been spread by e-mail at an alarming rate, was programmed to direct PCs to download files from a website between 8pm and 11pm last night.
