Workers fear parental leave harms promotion prospects
Irish workers who take parental leave fear they will be discriminated against by their employers, according to a survey carried out by RecruitIreland.com.
The research found that more than half of employees feared taking parental leave would hinder their promotion prospects.
A similar number said they would not be able to afford to take unpaid parental leave.
The survey also found that less than 5% of employers provide childcare facilities for their staff.
51% said they would move job if they found a new employer who provided childcare facilities and 10% said they would take a cut in salary if childcare facilities were provided by their existing employers.
