Iarnród Eireann has defended its decision to increase fares on its Dublin to Belfast route.

Iarnród Eireann has defended its decision to increase fares on its Dublin to Belfast route.

The company, which operates the Enterprise service in conjunction with Northern Ireland Railways, increased fares by between 6% and 10% this week.

A single journey now costs €31 and a return journey €46. Iarnród Eireann did not require government permission to increase charges on the cross-border route.
