Review of export controls continues

The Minister for Trade and Commerce, Michael Ahern TD, has said a review of Ireland's export controls system for dual use and military goods is progressing.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment requested Forfas to undertake the review to recommend how best to modernise and strengthen controls to ensure full compliance with Ireland's international obligations.

An inter-departmental committee, representing Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Defence, the Revenue Commissioners and Forfas has been established to oversee the exercise.
