Anti-fraud scheme gets good response

A new scheme introduced in Britian to cut credit card fraud has had a “very favourable” response with the UK public, a survey suggested today.

The Chip and PIN trial has been running in Northampton and the surrounding area for six weeks and currently involves 600 retailers, including many high street names.

It replaces the traditional method of paying for goods and services using a card and a signature with a microchipped card and a consumer’s four-digit PIN (personal identification number).
