London’s leading shares closed in positive territory today after drawing encouragement from a burst of activity on Wall Street.

The FTSE 100 Index finished an uncertain session 18.8 points stronger at 4152.9 after positive manufacturing figures buoyed early trading in New York, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 134 points at London’s close.
