London’s FTSE 100 Index was under pressure today as traders stayed on the sidelines ahead of Chancellor Gordon Brown’s statement on the euro.

With the pound weaker following details of Treasury reports assessing the criteria for the UK to enter the single currency, the FTSE 100 Index barely moved from an earlier low.
