Online auction site e-Bay is to start charging customers VAT from the end of the month.

Under new EU regulations, e-bay will start collecting from shoppers from July 1.

To date e-Bay has not charged VAT on its services, but the EU directive compels them along with other commercial sites to collect the tax on all its seller fees.

This is to include insertion, feature, final value, and subscription fees.
