'Photographer' fined

An Italian economist was fined 10,000 ringgit (€1,390) for taking photographs up a woman’s skirt as she rode a department-store escalator in Malaysia, a court official said.

Luca Dal Pozzo, 39, of Reveno, Italy, pleaded guilty to photographing the 30-year-old woman’s thighs on May 8 as she rode an escalator in the shopping mall at the foot of the Petronas Towers, the world’s tallest buildings.

Pozzo, who faced a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine, had initially pleaded not guilty in court two weeks ago.
