Lucent and Juniper form partnership

Juniper Networks and telecom equipment maker Lucent have announced a partnership.

Juniper Networks makes among other things IP routers and junction boxes and other equipment to speed traffic around the internet. The company shares have risen recently on good results which seemed to show that Juniper was taking market share from rival Cisco.

Lucent and Juniper are to introduce a set of unified solutions, and this allows them to market each other’s equipment to large service providers. This agreement is non-exclusive and Lucent could also make such an agreement with Cisco.

The companies are also to collaborate on joint development. Lucent, in a effort to reduce costs has recently cut back on its internet protocol projects and Juniper should fill this gap.
