Bord Gais announces €114m profits for 2002

Figures for 2002 released by Bord Gais has shown a 14% increase in turnover to €652m.

The company said its pre-tax profits for 2002 were €114m.

It also announced that it secured 31,000 extra residential customers during the year and an extra 1,000 commercial customers.

Chief executive Gerry Walsh said: "It's been a year of strong growth on the revenue line. Our assets have grown to around €2bn which makes us a very significant player in the landscape in Ireland now. All in all we're quite pleased with the outcome."
