A new UK-Ireland air route is to be opened this summer, it was announced today.

Aer Arann Express will start daily services between Waterford and Luton airport in Bedfordshire on June 9.

The airline will use a 48-seater ATR42 aircraft on the route.

Aer Arann, which currently operates five routes between the UK and Ireland, hopes to carry more than 24,000 passengers on the new Luton service this year.

The airline’s commercial manager Jennifer Mooney said today: “We are delighted to be offering a direct service between Luton and Waterford. We have identified a substantial demand for this new route and are committed to providing the high-quality, reliable level of service that our passengers have come to expect from us.”
