Andor Technology to invest £6m in major expansion
Belfast company Andor Technology is investing over £6m (€8.7m) in new premises, equipment and processes to expand its operations at Springvale in West Belfast to enable it to exploit its lead in the electro-optical technology market, it has been announced.
Invest Northern Ireland is putting £1m (€1.4m) into the project which is expected to lead to the Andor doubling its present workforce of around 80 people within the next three years.
Andor Technology designs, develops and manufactures specialist scientific cameras.
The investment involves the company expanding within the Springvale Business Park. According to MD Hugh Cormican it will also increased manufacturing space and additional space for research and development.
Andor was founded in 1989 by physicists from Queen’s University. In 2001 it raised £2.1m (€3m) in funding from Crescent Capital and Lloyds TSB Development Capital. It has offices in Europe, the US and Japan.
