John Deegan wins ICSA presidential election

John Deegan, a full-time sheep and suckler farmer from Co Wicklow, has been elected president of the Irish Cattle and Sheepfarmers Association.

Mr Deegan, who takes over the position on April 1, said he plans to mount a campaign against the importation of beef and mutton from outside the European Union, where procedures for tracing the origin of meat products are questionable or non-existent.
