GMB fights Ryanair moves on job cuts
A union today vowed to fight plans to axe 460 jobs at budget airline Buzz, which is being taken over by rival Irish no-frills carrier Ryanair.
Last month, Ryanair announced that 400 Buzz jobs would be lost and 12 Buzz routes scrapped.
But today, the GMB union said Ryanair wanted to make 460 Buzz staff redundant and that the remaining 140 Buzz employees would only be kept on if they transferred to Ryanair terms and conditions by March 14.
āWe will not allow Ryanair to get away with this aggressive asset strip,ā said GMB regional secretary Paul Kenny.
He added: āOur members have rights which GMB will enforce.ā
