Databank Systems acquired by Ingenico
French company Ingenico has acquired Dublin company Databank which provides countertop and mobile payment terminals and software applications.
Databank has for the past couple years been a distributor of Ingenico's products and has been providing smart card solutions for some time. In 1998 it supplied the first ever Smart Card based loyalty system in Ireland to Pettitt's supermarkets.
Ingenico also provides secure electronic payment technology and smartcard solutions. In January it announced that it had signed a 5-year supply contract with ALLIED IRISH BANK for exclusive delivery of its secure terminal TT41 in a deal worth several million Euros, Over the past few months.
The company recently won similar contracts in Mexico, with Bancomerand the banks Santander and Banknorte, and in Chile, with Transbank. The company has also received a first order ever in India for €7m from JUMPP, the country’s leading payment transaction supplier for developing its electronic payment business.
Ingenico's headquarters are located in France, employing1,800 people, with a presence on every continent, managing 20 subsidiaries and working with 300 distributors around the world.
