London shares edge lower

London shares edged lower today as the mood continued to be hit by war fears and economic worries.

By lunchtime the FTSE 100 Index was down 2.7 points at 3724.4 as traders braced themselves for a weaker opening for New York markets later on – where the Dow Jones Industrial Average is expected to open 20 points lower.
