Allied Irish Bank said it turned in a “very strong performance” over the last year despite slowing economies, difficult financil markets and the high-profile fraud in its US arm Allfirst.

Allied Irish Bank said it turned in a “very strong performance” over the last year despite slowing economies, difficult financial markets and the high-profile fraud in its US arm Allfirst.

Pre-tax profits came in at €1.38bn, against €1.37bn the previous year.
