eTel asks for help from Taoiseach

Executives from eTel Group met Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and other Government officials in the Czech Republic today.

The Taoiseach was participating in an official visit to the Czech Republic, organised by Enterprise Ireland.

eTel viewed the forum as an opportunity to seek the assistance of the Government delegation in alleviating the regulatory difficulties and delays that eTel and other alternative telecommunications operators are encountering in the Czech Republic.

Liberalisation of the Czech telecommunications system started at the beginning of 2001 but progress has been slow.

The completion of full telecommunications market liberalisation has not yet taken place.

eTel Czech Republic was established in 1999 and today has more than 1400 corporate customers.
