Greens call for Aerospace rescue package
The Green Party has called on the Government to negotiate a rescue package for Aerospace Industries, who announced yesterday that it was shedding 33 jobs.
Aerospace Industries is a supply chain management company firm based in Balbriggan Co Dublin.
The job losses amount to almost the entire workforce at the company.
Commenting on yesterday's exchequer figures, in which a surplus of over €95m was returned, Green Party leader Trevor Sargent said it was crucial the Government invested in indigenous industries like Aerospace.
"Indigenous industries such as Aerospace, which has had to weather the storms of the aftermath of September 11... certainly deserve to have the assistance of Government, because it has provided about €25m per annum in turnover, has given excellent employment and can give excellent employment into the future."
He added: "But it does need the Government to assist and to listen and consult in the rescue package."
