Protest over fish quota cuts

Some 250 people have rallied at Fraserburgh's fish market to show their opposition to the EU's fishing quota cuts.

It came after an agreement to cut cod catches by 45% next year and dramatically limit the amount of time fishing boats can spend at sea.

Banff & Buchan Alex Salmond says fishing ministers Elliot Morley and Ross Finnie could have done more during negotiations.

He added that protesters had discussed ways of opposing the deal.

He stated: "Every other fisheries minister managed to emerge with their fleet intact.

"I would say the mood is one of anger and grim resolution. It was an initial shock that our representatives could agree to such a stitch-up."
