Beef industry leaders to meet in Dublin
The Minister for Agriculture, Joe Walsh, will chair a special round of talks to improve the long-term stability of the beef industry later today.
The meeting was called by the Minister following recent friction within the beef industry, including protests by members of the Irish Farmers Association who were demanding better prices for their cattle.
Today's meeting will open with a full run down on the international beef markets by the chief executive of An Bord Bia, Mr Michael Duffy.
The Irish Farmers Association, which will be represented by Mr Dillon, will argue that without a viable price for their cattle, there can be no beef industry.
