A joint venture, Cometa Networks has been formed between Intel, IBM, AT& T and two venture firms for the provision of high speed wireless internet access.

Cometa Networks aims to increase the number of "hot spots" for accessing wireless internet networks by installing network devices in chain retail stores, restaurants, hotels and petrol stations.
