Microsoft & SFA emphasize need for increased IT security
The world's number one software company, Microsoft and the Small Firms Association (SFA) have highlighted the need for increased IT security among Irish SME's by advising them to be continuously vigilant against internal & external IT security risks that may exist in their organisations.
According to Microsoft, cyber attacks and network security infringements were on the rise, necessitating the need for the advice. The advice was given at a customer security seminar held in the Berkeley Court Hotel titled- "Keeping your network secure & reliable". Microsoft also said that it had made a concerted effort in the past few years to enhance the security features in its products.
According to Pat Delaney, director, Small Firms Association, "Over the last few months we have undertaken extensive research amongst our members regarding their IT needs. Our recently published IT Management Survey showed IT security as the second biggest IT concern amongst our members at present.
"This research proves that smaller companies are now starting to view security issues in the same way larger enterprises have done for a long time; IT security is no longer an option for businesses but is rather a legitimate business cost which needs to be budgeted for annually," said Mr Delaney
