DCM installs telephony solution for Mayo County Council
Digital Communications Management (DCM) today announced it has installed and commissioned a major new telephony solution for Mayo County Council.
In all, 150 employees benefit from the new facility, which includes centralised dialling, desk dialling and the implementation of Voice over IP.
John Hulsman, operations director of DCM states, "There are now four locations that jointly undertake the daily work of Mayo County Council and it was imperative to install a system which would provide ease of communication between these sites. DCM was pleased to provide the community with this service."
John McGovern, staff officer from Mayo County Council welcomes the new system: "The feedback from both employees and residents, since the system went live in July, has been very positive. The introduction of Voice over IP means that we can combine voice and data across the different locations. Previously there was a lease line for each, which was more expensive for the council and proved far less efficient. Now, with the new system in place, we are able to converge the two."
The recent Government instruction to decentralise the local services has resulted in this move out from the head office in Castlebar. The new office in Westport serves for another base for the residents and divides the daily operations of the council between different locations.
