Quantas confident Air NZ deal can go through

Qantas is confident a plan to link the airline with Air New Zealand will go ahead despite opposition to the plan from Australia's competition authority.

Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon expressed confidence he will overcome a personal dispute with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and persuade it to approve plans for a tie-up with Air New Zealand.

Dixon criticised the ACCC over their opposition to Quantas plans to acquire a 22.5% stake in Air New Zealand.

Plans for a new regional alliance, in which Qantas would inject some NZ $550m €275m into Air New Zealand were unveiled by the two airlines last week.
