Slow start for London traders

A strong close on Wall Street last night failed to inspire London traders this morning, as the FTSE 100 Index headed for a subdued end to the week.

By mid-morning, the Footsie was 15.3 points lower at 4174.7, as heavyweight oil and telecoms groups fell.
