NTL Ireland reported a 45% increase in profits on revenue of €25.2m for the third quarter, compared with the same quarter in 2001.

The revenue increase took place because of increases in charges for its analogue service.

NTL also did not have to spend so much on infrastructure as in the previous year.

The company saw an increase in the number of its digital subscribers, though overall its customer base shrank by 3,600.

Its parent company NTL Inc reported a rise in Q3 core earnings as it cut costs.

It said that it hoped to come out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the end of November.
