General Electric unveiled reforms to its corporate governance, including having more independent directors and directors having more direct involvement with management.

GE also said two current directors will not seek re-election and will leave the board in December.

They are Paolo Fresco, former GE vice chairman and head of Fiat; and Scott McNealy, chairman of Sun Microsystems.
