Amazon.com is to start to sell clothes online.

Amazon.com is to start to sell clothes online.

It is selling apparel and accessories from more than 400 brands, including Gap, Nordstrom and OshKosh.

It is also selling shoes bags and luggage.

Launching the store, Amazon said that it would give out a $30 (€30) promotional certificate to those who spend $50 (€50.2) or more at the new store.

The launch of the store comes at a time when clothing is now the third biggest item in terms of web sales.

Recorded music (singles, albums CDs and tapes), which Amazon also sells, has seen a downturn in of over 25% in the first nine months of 2002.
