The Commission for Communications Regulation is to introduce flat rate internet access for the public to all parts of the country.

MEP Sean O'Neachtain has welcomed the recent decision announced by the Minister for Communications Mr Dermot Ahern.

Mr O'Neachtain insists internet charges must be the same whether people live in the country or the city.

The MEP says that Ireland must remain competitive when it comes to business and that the use of modern technology must be encouraged in the west and north west of Ireland.

He maintains this is necessary to facilitate the start up of businesses in the areas.
