Sony announces Q2 profits

The Sony Corporation announced results for Q2, where its net profits increased to 44.1bn (€363.5m) Yen from a 31.2bn Yen (€257m) net loss last year.

In particular, its electronics and games division increased its profitability.

The company forecast, however, that business conditions in the second half of the year would be more difficult.

It cut its previous sales and anticipated lower demand for its electronics products in Europe, Japan and the US.

Sony said that the mobile phone joint venture it had with Ericsson may not achieve profitability for the full year.
