O2 and Sord Data team up with cattle federation
The Irish Cattle Breeding Federation, 02 Ireland and Sord Data Systems have announced a new approach to gathering performance data on Irish cattle.
The gathering of the data is helped by using 02 xda which is a data device with an in-built PC and mobile phone that was launched in the market earlier this year.
Using the device, inspectors can travel to farms, equipped with an 02xda containing a list of the cattle to be examined.
Once on the farm, the inspector can record the results for each animal and immediately communicate them back to the ICBF database, using the GPRS features of the XDA.
In this way, the database of Irish cattle, which is maintained by the ICBF, is automatically updated before the inspector leaves the farm.
Sord Data Systems, which provided the software for the 02xda used in this project, is an IT infrastructure and solutions company, which has been in business for 16 years.
It is a reseller for Compaq, HP, Cisco, 3Com, Novell and Microsoft. Sord offers total solutions on Microsoft based handheld devices and this service includes software development as well as the technical systems integration.
