Sky uses Cape Clear Software
Cape Clear Software, a Dublin provider of Web Services technology has announced that British Sky Broadcasting (BSKyB) has used Web Services to automate a range of customer service functions over the internet.
The new applications reduce the time and administration involved in the ordering and provision of satellite television services.
The system, which is built with Cape Clear's CapeConnect product, enables BSkyB customers to order television services online and then manages the integration of that information with the company's back-end and mainframe-based applications.
BSkyB now provides Sky digital, the UK's first broadband digital television platform, to 15 million viewers in 5.9 million households in Britain.
Sky's own channels, such as Sky News and Sky Sports are available in a further 4.2 million cable linked households in Britain and Ireland.
Cape Clear says that its software has one focus, creating Web Services technology that reduces the business costs of software development and integration.
Founded in 1999, Cape Clear is a privately held firm with offices in Dublin, California, and Massachusetts.
